Go Find Lisa!!

Yes you read me right, there's another way to find me!!

I've created another blog which is basically an extension for urbanLove.

It can be found on WordPress as I wanted to see what the fuss is all about. I have several friends and colleagues who post on WP and love it.
And I like Blogger ALOT, but am always up to check out new things.

So!!
You can find me here: http://urbanloveinvites.wordpress.com/

This being said, I can't confirm how often I will be on Blogger, but I'll probably check in from time to time!

Happy reading! :D

Pics with Captions Part #2

Yep, same old story as before: super duper pooper busy!
I've finalized a couple wedding orders, taken some time out to be the "cool, hip Mom" for my daughter's school trip, went on a hike, took some pics (pft, obv....like I even had to say, lol) and have also continued on strengthening my wedding designs so I can launch that new site of mine and soon!!
Dang.
I know!!

Plus there's a slew of birthdays a-comin' so I've been out and about gathering trinkets as gifts and have found some GREAT finds...including an old wooden school desk (the kind with the lift top) for, get this, Three Freakin Seventy Five! And there's a decimal in between the Three and the Seventy Five! $3.75! No lie, yo. I'll post pics later as I may just do a whole entry on that alone :D

Anyways, a few pics for you...enjoy!

My sister collaborates with the yearly Fashion n' Motion show held at Wilfred Laurier University. They rocked it as per usual!!

The cast finishing up a number :)

You ever see that Reitman's commercial where that "catwalky" type song plays? It makes you wanna strut when you hear it? No, don't remember? I do. And this is the song I think of when I see this picture.

The boyz in the 'hood get ready to give us a show down, a throw down, hell no they ain't gonna slow down.

Took my Zoe to an art fair at the local downtown library. The Handmade Festival has a closing show on May 6th. I will be there, will you?

Ireland's baby shower!!! Her parents, (seen above here) Tyler and Sarah are also HUGE Pumpkins fans so I made them....

THIS!

A custom-made baby tshirt with the caption Smashing Pumpkins Friggin Rule and (shown above) What Do You Mean "Who is Billy Corgan? Seriously?" LMAO...

This is Rebekah. She's been one of my BFF's for like, a long long time. And in that long long time, she's never really bought her own house. Until now. And now, she's fixing it up. Like, tearing down walls, ceilings, mudding and painting and...from time to time, peppered her days with a little swearing. Because sometimes, an artist needs to.

Went on a road trip. Found a cool sign. Sharing it with you.

Same road trip, different sign. Still sharing.

The tornado of energy that is my son. Love Love.

My gorgeous childhood friend Cat. I call her Kitty Cat, and this day, the Kitty was in the City. We met up at the Galleria and took a nice stroll through...

...my favourite park :)

This is my Pretty Deb, another childhood friend. I'm designing her custom-made wedding invitations and yes, not to sound pretentious but I f'kn rocked them. They will be printed and mailed out soon, so watch for yours!! :)

This is wall gum, downtown London. Oh how I love Richmond Row, lol. You find the coolest shit.

Took Zoey on a hike. Showed her nature at sunset and how beautiful life really is. Then we looked down and to the left a little. Never guess what we found: a nudie mad with torn pages strewn across the forest floor. Talk about a "nature" walk, lol.

I took pics of such hilarious debris, however I'm unsure of the restrictions of Blogger so I didn't post the picture I took...however I guess I could have just pixelated her lady bits out. Another post for another time I suppose, lol.

This is a local centuries-old train station that is being restructured. You can't see it but there were two (hot) workers up on a boom near the corner. Thanks to the wonders of Clone Stamp, I was able to remove them. One day, I may have Content Aware, but until then...

Dammit, I'm blocked in again! (perimeter shot). I see Timmy in the window, hi Timmy!

Simultaneously eerie and beautiful.

Yeah the office is down at the very end of the hall.

Click click goes the shutter on my camera :D

Yer Cheatin' Heart

I am getting SO sick of hearing about how all these celebrity men are cheating on their wives. It's absolutely disgusting. Obviously, they take for granted the goodness that they have...I realize I do not live their lives and see what it's like in their living rooms and kitchens from day to day, but come on! Tiger had a rumoured EIGHTEEN women and Jesse James is alleged to have 3.

So I took to my design programs and pumped out some anti-cheating greeting cards; attached you see here is one of the many I've done. Personally I love it and not "just cause it's my design" but because it's cute and funny and to the point. That's the kind of sense of humour I have.

If ever this post finds Elin and Sandra, ladies, stay strong...kids or no kids, you deserve better. Having a stupid drunk fling in Vegas is one thing (still unacceptable) but it's the secrecy and behind-your-back coupled with the length of time that makes this horrifying.
How could you ever trust him again? Just sayin'...

FRONT: I'm sorry your husband cheated on you.
INSIDE: If I were you, I'd get the golf clubs ready. xoxo

Social Life Update

OK.
I'm not saying I am the most popular person on the face of the earth, but in the last few months my social life has prit'damn'near exploded! I've had so much going on and I'm so grateful for these opportunities to not only just get out of the house, but to network, to show my kids that there is more to the world than our living room, and of course, to take pictures :D

^^ my actual calendar

I've gone up north (ok, well Newmarket...which is technically north of me) to see old friends, I finally had the opportunity to go to Covent Garden Market (finally! I know!), I've taken my daughter Z to an Art Fair, we went to see my sister's choreographed dance routine at Laurier last night and we are heading, in mere minutes, out the door to my good friends Tyler and Sarah's baby shower.

Then, there's another art show that's being thrown by my girlfriend from highschool, Tennille Will so I'm looking forward to that! And then there is an open house at Fanshawe that I am going to (and taking Z with so she can get an idea of what college life has to offer), after that is another baby shower, and then finally, on the 29th, Z and a couple of her friends are going to a teen Make-Up class, for fun! But since I'm the only one with a valid license, I get to play Taxi.

Oh gosh, plus I'm working on some new urbanLovely's, an expansion, and other yummies to tell you about so stay tuned, bookmark me, and we'll chat at ya later!

SO!
I will be posting another "No Story Just Pictures" blog soon enough to encompass the Everything That's Going On :)

xoxo

The Re-Birth of Slick

I always knew that 2010 was going to be my year. 3 months into it, I've begun making important changes to urbanLove's "infrastructure".

I'm re-newing. Re-builidng. Re-birthing...ok that latter sounds kinda gross, but point is, there will be many changes being unveiled in the coming months. Hopefully weeks if I get my way ;)

Because I'm awesome, I will keep you posted.
But I can't wait for the next chapter to begin...so many more levels to me as an artist and another online venue, if you will, for urbanLove.....

No Story, Just Pics with Captions

Yeah, no I've been THAT busy lately that I had no other option but to just post-a-pic for this entry. And with more wonderfuls scheduled in my calendar for the next few weeks, my posts may not be very lengthly in words, but will tell a story of a thousand words from the photos :) Stay tuned for more...

My daughter not at all impressed I am taking her pic. It was either that, or she clean her room.
Mom wins.

So, I decided to do a solo shoot in a local park and thought I was Superwoman who would be able to get back up the hill without getting stuck. Yeah I don't know much, lol.
1/32 tank and 18 minutes later in between 1st and 2nd gear, I was out!
Ha! Take that, un-plowed parking lot!
Mom wins again. MAN I'm on a roll!

One of the handful of 3-cent shots that I got stuck in the snow for. Train bridges are quite majestic. So are deep tire tracks but we won't dwell on that.

Oh how Rocky Mountain Chocolates is a God to my taste buds and even better for my ass! (I'm trying to gain weight here!)

Me goofing off for the camera. I'm a ham. On sale for $5 a pound. WHAT?

My 2.5 year old son enjoying the winterized park.

Family Day Bowling; although Nick and I are separated we do know the importance of being friends so the kids learn that separation does not mean war in the ranks. Very important.
Besides, it was my Mom and Dad who initially invited him along not me ;)

So I'm single, and my sister is single (yes she's hotter than me by leaps and bounds and NO you may not get her number) and she thought that she would write me a lil' love note, complete with a bouquet of roses and some chocolate covered strawberries and left those gorgeous treats on my door step when I was out one evening.
Everyone should have a sister like mine. She really does rock. xoxo Love ya Kate!

This is an amazing painting by my "sister" Paula Jolly. I say sister in quotations because her and Katy (see note above) have been BFF's before the term was even coined and during a time when the New Kids on the Block were just getting started.
And since she's been a part of my life for so long, I adopted her one day.

I have a sock fetish.
Fuzzy pink socks, man. You wouldn't have been able to say no to them either, especially on sale for $1.

Sock fetish continues......got these for a buck as well.

Sit down, I have to tell you something....

..and the heavens sprinkled my childhood memories with dust....

Seriously.

I honestly don't know HOW:
a) things like this happen to me
b) my Psychic didn't see THIS one coming.

I got into another car accident a few days ago.
Fucking hell. I know!
Mother Nature really does not like me.

So this is what happened:

This past Monday, 10:30am.
Weather reports indicated that if possible, to stay home due to the onslaught of snow and ice and winter nastiness.

I was chatting on Facebook with my sister, telling her of my plans for the day and how I was going to BestBuy to look at some speakers for my computer as they were having a sale anyways, and also because I desperately wanted a set for my home office because I NEED to feel the bass against my feet as I design. I don't know how some corporate offices don't allow music; it's like a life blood, at least for me.

She specifically told me NOT to go, or at the very least to be careful.
"Yeah yeah, sure sure" I said to myself as I typed "I promise I will be careful"

OK for the record, I was being VERY careful.
At time of impact, I was doing 25kmh.

So I'm driving along Wellington, going north towards BestBuy. Saw the entrance, put my blinker on and then...something made me look out of the corner of my eye. I turned my head to the left and saw a mini-van, obviously losing control in the snow, swerving right to left to right again and then it hooked sharply to the left and aimed for me.

A car pulled up beside me just as the van jumped the median, slammed into her who slammed into me. It literally happened THAT fast. 123 done.

I spun out and ended up several meters off to the side, but from what I could tell there was no real damage caused. I mean, the front end was NOT smashed in like my Escort. And the engine was still running.

Opening my door, which now creaked like you were bending back metal, when it didn't half an hour prior, I got out and inspected. Yep, there was for sure a nice big dent and lots of scratches but to my (untrained) eye, I assumed maybe $1000 damage, max.
HA.
Yeah I really don't know nothin' :)

I cursed under my breath; what are the odds that after 2.5 months and a new car I would be in another accident. Sheesh.

Turning into the frigid wind, I stepped away and approached the other drivers to ensure everyone was okay. Both their vehicles were so badly damaged you could tell they were both write offs. As I exchanged information with them, I realized that if it weren't for the car between us, I would have ended up in worse shape.

No one was hurt, THANKFULLY, and what was more alarming is that in the van was a 4 week old baby, coming back from her first check-up. I teared up a bit; babies are so so so precious. I all of a sudden took back all the "crap, my 9 week old car!" comments in my mind and silently thanked God that she was unharmed.

Tow trucks came, and I went back to my car and called in the claim. I decided the speakers could wait, lol, so I drove home and decided along the way since I was passing through town to stop off at my mechanic's. Might as well, right?

Jerry took one look and directed me across the street to an auto-body repair shop. I spent damn near 45 minutes in there between initial assessment to calling in my claim for verification to securing a rental...

...I still have the rental: a 2010 hot blue Focus. LOVE it, other than the fact it's auto :(
I miss my lil' 5 speed!!

Anyways, my car suffered close to $4000 damage.
See where I was about 3-grand off? Haha....
New door, rocker panels, quarter panels, head lights, front bumper, paint job...all this for a set of $50 speakers.

Guess I shoulda just stayed home eh?
My sister knows best!

I will have the car back by end of next week ::hopefully::
Until then, I'm not driving ANYWHERE if there is more than an inch of snow.
